Mechanical Ventilation Systems

Mechanical ventilation uses fans and duct systems to control indoor air quality and airflow. Unlike natural ventilation, which relies on passive air movement, mechanical systems actively push or pull air into and out of a building.

Mechanical ventilation is essential in buildings where natural ventilation cannot meet the air quality or comfort requirements, such as in densely populated urban environments or facilities with specific cleanliness standards.

Types of Mechanical Ventilation

These ventilation systems can include: 

• Exhaust and supply systems: Purely mechanical, focusing on either removing air from or supplying air to the space.
• Balanced systems: These are also mechanical, ensuring an equal amount of incoming and outgoing air to maintain pressure balance.
• ERV (energy recovery ventilators) and HRV (heat recovery ventilators) systems: Advanced forms of mechanical ventilation that recover energy from the exhaust air stream.
